KCT Seeks Board Treasurer
Kulshan Carbon Trust is growing — and we're looking for a Treasurer to help steward the financial health of our work as we do.
If you care about the future of NW Washington and want to put your financial skills toward something rooted in this place, this is a meaningful way to help. As a member of our Board of Directors, you'd play a real role in shaping a network of place-based carbon trusts and in the broader movements around bioregionalism and regeneration.
What we do
KCT catalyzes community-led collaborations that empower land stewards to implement regenerative solutions — like biochar — to restore ecosystems, draw down carbon, and build climate resilience across our bioregion. We connect farmers, landowners, researchers, funders, and community members to turn these solutions into on-the-ground impact, and to help build a broader movement of place-based carbon conservation trusts. The role
As Treasurer, you'd oversee bookkeeping and cash flow, lead the annual budget process, report financials to the Board, serve as our audit and tax compliance liaison, and maintain banking relationships and internal controls.
We're hoping to find someone with meaningful experience in accounting, financial management, bookkeeping oversight, budgeting, or a related field. Professional credentials are welcome but not required, and familiarity with nonprofit finance and reporting is a plus.
What to expect
KCT board members serve a three-year term (with the option to seek reelection for one additional term) and give an average of 5–10 hours per month. The Board meets every two months, always with a hybrid option for remote participation, plus optional social gatherings in between. We ask board members to join at least one committee or workgroup, support the organization through fundraising, contribute financially if they're able, and attend KCT events and pint nights whenever possible.
Board members serve without compensation, aside from administrative support and travel costs related to board duties.
